I picked one of these up the other day. It had a load of wires cut on the power amp board and all the differential pair transistors were missing. So, after some swatting up with the service manual and some new transistors and trimmers, it was alive and singing.
I then went on to do a re-cap and this all went well. I went through and re-lubricated the tuning dial cord mechanism as the previous owner seems to have tried to lubricate it with some sort of thick grease you would use on an old car!
I was looking at the actual tuning needle, and it doesn't illuminate which I found odd.... it looks like the plastic needle would light up but maybe I'm missing the light source? I wondered if anyone has one, they could post a picture or some information to confirm if they're needle lights up or not.
Also, it seems I'm missing the black-bands off all of the knobs. If someone can tell m what they're made of maybe I can get something to replace it with as the metal edges are a bit sharp without them!
I'm quite taken with this, it sounds good, looks good, and looks very at home next to my TV.... I think its hinting at something....
Thanks!
