Akai AM-U61

Hi, I bought an Akai AM-U61 integrated amp a couple of weeks ago, I finally got around to having a play with it and it sounds really good...when it's been on for 2-3 minutes. The problem is, the bass drifts in and out like someone is turning the bass up and down, after 2-3 minutes it's fine. I've cleaned and lubed all of the switches and pots but nothing has changed, anyone with any ideas? Thanks in advance.

When you hear the tone change in an audio signal, this is most likely the result of a capacitor or less likely a resistor used in a passive or active filter. So, your first potential culprit is a capacitor in the tone shaping portion of the circuit.

Scope or an ESR meter might be a better choice!
