Akai faceplate removal

Bought an Akai AA-R50 from a neighbor for $30 the other day. Want to take the faceplate off for cleaning. This is my first time for all this. Do the knobs pull off? Tuning knob has a hole, is this for metric Allen wrench? I have been carefully cleaning the layers of dirt out of it with a soft brush and vacume. All help is appreciated!

Knobs should pull off, though sometimes they can be rather stubborn.

Hole in tuning knob is for metric allen wrench as you suspected. Sorry, I don't know exact size.
 
Found my standard set but will have to come up with a metric set this week. Lots of noise in the volume nob that I want to take a shot at fixing.
