Akai graphic equalizer

short answer is NO it is rack system junk. Very noisy. Look for an ADC sound shaper or ben a BSR 3100. What is the rest of your system?

I didn’t see much info about it so thanks for that. I would likely put it into my Marantz 2230, Klipsch RB5, Sony thrift store CD player system. I love it but Klipsch + my very live room are sometimes a little hot for me.

I would go with the Kenwood from the same guy over the Akai. For $20 more there is the TWELVE BAND EQUALIZER - $50 (DENVER). While I'm not familiar with Tenna Phase, I am familiar with ADC Soundshaper 2, and that is a nice unit. I'd go look at that one.
Now, about your room...

Thanks for scoping that out. I’d prefer something with a lower profile; the only eq I’ve ever had was a Teac EQA-10 and I really liked the size and looks and sound of it (not sure how highly regarded it is).

The room: I know, I know. I’m really limited by room shape and layout unfortunately. I’m taking the lazy way out and going with the eq for now.

More than 9 channels is much more helpful in trimming a room, however, without a spectrum analyzer, all it would be is guesswork. Think of nine channel as having a few extra tone knobs on your preamp.
