AKAI GX-65 - Worth a Flutter?

[jammasterj13]

Howdy Folks,

I have an opportunity to purchase a Akai GX-65.

I've never owned any Akai gear so don't know what the score is in terms of quality. I know the GX-85 is something special but where does its little brother stand in terms of the 'great ones'?

Appreciate all comments.

I've owned several Akais and like them.
The GX-65 listed for $500 and has 3 heads, so it should be quite nice.

should be a decent machine..akai made some very good cassette decks around the early 90's...from the gx 52 right up to the mighty gx 95 II..i'm guessing the gx65 slots somewhere in between performance wise...

if it has a direct drive mechanism i'd give it a try..i've found the akai mechanism to be pretty durable on both my gx52's..and the recordings are excellent even on ferric tapes
