Started having problems with playback on one side with this deck, real scratchy/muted. Thought it was a connector, then the QRX-7001 and finally figured it out when my phone played fine into the Tape Monitor 2 with no distortion on either side.
Not a deck expert though I worked on this one a couple of years ago and haven't had any problems until maybe 6 weeks ago. I switched connectors and the problem appeared to go away, then reappeared. I DeOxed the terminals and worked the cables at both the receiver and tape deck in and out and twisting a little, and worked the monitor switch on the 7001 a bunch but the problem persisted. Finally I played into what I thought was the problem terminal in the 7001 with my phone and it sounds fine. Also played the same tape on a different deck and it sounds fine.
So I think it's coming out of the deck bad in one channel.
Where should I start?
