Akai GXC-65D Can’t Find Belts Help!

Hey all

I was wondering if anybody knew where I could find a replacement belt kit for an Akai GXC-65D Invert-o-Matic cassette deck. There are 7 belts in the deck and I haven’t found anywhere that sells a kit. Any help is appreciated.

https://www.vintage-electronics.net/ has a 5 belt kit. I would contact them to see what they include and if you can identify to two remaining belts, maybe they can provide them too.

There's also a set available at www.electro-andijk.nl

But again not complete ( those two thick ones are missing). And the capstan snare is a bit thin, which tends to result in somewhat slow tape-play.

Fair chance it's those two thick round belts missing. They are truly hard to find. I have just boiled mine. Plenty of traction now, but they might be a bit stiff. It works though.

There is also the issue of the thickness of the capstan belt (snare). Make sure you got the proper 1,6x1,6 or you could run in to tape-speed issues.

I bought belts for the this deck independent of a kit and thru a little trial and error got mine back up and running. Cool, fun, novel deck. Doesn't sound bad. Never recorded on it.
