Akai GXC-710D Slow Rewind

Hi everyone,

I have just finished replacing all the belts, Roller, and power capacitors on my Akai GXC-710D cassette deck but I still have a slow rewind problem as it gets near the end of the tape..

Would it be the tire that needs a replacement or some rubber renue to do the trick?

I have recorded a video showing the problem.

any help would be amazing and much appreciated.

I have used used an emery board to roughen up the tire then used the renue and it worked and held for nearly two years before it needed to be done again. Best to replace if you can and are capable.

So is rewind only run by that little rubber part?
