All Marantz Setup! HD770's with 2330B and 2500

My new to me Marantz HD770's are starting to grow on me. After trying my also new to me 2330B with them, I decided to take my 2500 off the shelf for a listen with the HD770's. (The 2500 sat silent for at least a year and predictably, the sound was chopped. It took a little working of the controls to re-establish contact.) I must say, this all Marantz setup is very nice. The 2500's power takes better control of the HD770's drivers. It is punchier and clearer than the 2330B. I'm not a fan of ported speakers but the HD770's are starting to worm its way into my collection.

Oh to have a full Marantz setup!

I've had limited experience with the Marantz speakers. But from what I remember they were pretty good. Better then there competators of the that time. I remember if you wanted to kick it up a notch you went with Advents or JBL's. But the Marantz speakers were still pretty good.

I've been DIYng speakers longer then I've been fooling with stereos. And after 15 or so years of farting around with speakers I've learned this "Paper is king". Which means nothing has really replaced the sound of the simple paper coned speaker.

As for the 2330B. I don't know about yours, but my 2330 is simply wonderful!

I don't really consider Large Advents or the various JBL's to be an upgrade to the HD770. Perhaps in prestige or maybe appearance but IMHO, the HD770's sound better than either.
 
I approve of all marantz setups....even if the generations change

heck yeah! I have enough gear to have an ALL Marantz set-up, but find myself unable to find an equivalent Marantz Tape Deck or TT to make it 100% for my rack.

One of these days I hope to have a 2325, 2330, 2385, 2500 or 2600
 
You're right about the advents and JBL's. I was making more of a generalize statement directed towards the lower end speakers. Certainly not those!!!!!!!

And BTW I was never a big Advent fan. Tried them a few times and just never took to them. JBL's were better. But I don't seem to actually own any of them now, do I?
