All thumbs and need advice

I just tried to replace the needle in a Zenith 2G ceramic cartridge, and managed to muck it up completely. Not panicking, as I have two other turntables -- both with magnetic cartridges -- but still want to get this changer back in service ASAP. Before I buy, and ruin, another needle, does anyone out there have any installation tips or tricks?
