To all you sansui owners:

Do not sell your sansui merchandise, boys, unless you have to! It is a great product. I've had my sansui 3500 QRX for 34 years and she's still going strong! She can still eat speakers for breakfast. She blew a set of Boze 301s to smithereens. Now i've got some german Polk audio 500 watt speakers hooked up. Let me hear from the sansui lovers!

Hey, A QRX lover as well! Welcome Mark!

I have a QRX-6500, 7001, and 9001. All are excellent receivers, and I would not dream of letting them go.

I've had sui 2000, 3000a (awesome receiver), multiple 5000a, and a 7070. All were great receivers, i just got hooked on the quad thing. I had a dead 8080db that I eventually sold to a member here. it didn't work, but it was still pretty to look at all lit up.

Happy listening :music:

Methinks someone likes Sansui a lot. :D
Welcome to AK Mark.
If you look, there is a Sansui only forum in case us regular folks just ain't cool enough. ^_^
Just messin'. hehe

Just got my first big sui, a 8080DB, good stuff.

Count me in for Sansui. I just got my Sansui 881 up to par and it is a keeper, to go along with my 2000x and AU 517/TU 717 combo. My collection consist primarily of Pioneer, yahama and sansui. I guess I must give the other brands a chance when I tire of listening (maybe a long time) I gave away a 5000A instead of repairing just to heavy.

I'm In

Sansui 3000A, 9090DB, G-8000 AU-717, TU-717, and an AU-919 that I purchased last night.

I have other gear as well but have a more personal connection with the looks and sound of Sansui gear. The 3000A was my first that I purchased used in 1977. :thmbsp:

I too am a big Sansui fan and will hold on to mine until they pry my cold dead fingers from it. That is why I am taking the advise of members of this board and am educating myself in the ways of vintage audio in the hopes that I can repair what comes along myself. The assistance of the knowledgeable people here has been invaluable.

My Sansui 1000A won't blow many speakers, but it makes them sing beautifully!

Thanks! I remember the caveman lawyer character, just couldn't figure out the pig rocking out with the nose ring. :D

I think that Sansui built some of the best looking and highest quality gear ever. The 9090DB goes down in my book as the Lamborghini Miura of classic receivers, the AU/TU series Jag E-types... both drop dead gorgeous and instant classics. The 3000A JPDylon refers to was once mine and was seemingly hand carved from solid billet and granite, the "thunk" of it's switches is a permanent and pleasurable memory.

Don't forget the sweet phones and the phat J :smoke: :D

KSHE is the oldest rock station west of the Mississippi(40 years now) and prolly the best evah as the "caveman" put it :)

BTW, big Sansui fan here. A G-8700DB kicked this whole vintage thang off for me.

I am an early Sony and Sansui fan. I think that these two are eternal audio bargains. My Sansuis are 8080, 4000,7070 receivers; 999 and au 919 amplifiers. The sound and average price of the 8080 makes it a super bargain. The 999 is a beautiful amplifier:black with silver accents. Those knobs are uncommon. However this amp has to be handled with care because of the fragile lever switches. The cream of the lot is the au 919. This amp exudes quality. To buy a comparable amp today one would have to spend mucho mucho dinero.

To each his own. For me, the Sansui sound is magic. I've owned an AU/TU 9500 combo since 1974, and I love the sound and built quality. It was the last amp introduced under the watchful eye of Sansui's founder, and its warm, tube-like sound is wonderful. Its never been repaired, yet keeps on running. I'll never get rid of the unit. The tuner is a 5-gang beauty. I also own a AU-717 which is another great unit, sound is crystal clear. Finally, I also use a 9090db and wholeheartedly agree with aw11sd, for me its the epitome of a vintage receiver. Great looks and performance. So welcome Mark and hope to see you posting over in the Sansui forum.

I think Sansui are great, too! I have a 9090, an AU-717, a pair of AU-999s, an AU-222, one of those AU-9500s you guys have been talking about (Love that beast; you won't regret getting one! :thmbsp:  ), a 1330 cassette deck, and a couple older models in storage (Model Seven, a 210, and I forget what else...).

The 8080Db HAS to be the best bargain in vintage gear, (IMHO of course).

i see most go for under 200, which is just unreal once you finally get to hear one. unimaginable headroom compared to crap these days.

my bpc ht receiver which is rated at 130x7 (yeah right!) sounds like kaka with the same material, and speakers.
