Allied model 355 info? and speaker plugs

I just picked up an Allied model 355 receiver and can not find any info about it on the net. As far as I can tell, it was made by Pioneer for Radio Shack in the mid to late 60s. But I do not know what the watts per channel is, and I sure can not find the silly speaker terminal plug connector things. Any info appreciated.

As I recall, the Allied 355 was similar to the Pioneer SX-1000. It was built for Allied Radio Corp. and had nothing to do with Radio Shack.
Two different companies.

Back when it was a current model, I set a musician friend of mine up with a system around one of those receivers. It was a great sounding unit.

Search for pioneer speaker plugs - most likely in Pioneer forum. They are the same. Original ones are IMO too expensive - somebody found a connector with three prongs which worked perfectly when one was removed.

It's a CINCH JONES 3 Prong Male. Remove the Center prong, and it's as close to a perfect fit as you're gonna get.

If you're into Ghetto-Retro.......
You can go to Home Depot and get a Male Electrical plug for extension cords (2 prong). Carefully twist one 90* and use a dremel to trim down to size.

ghetto retro i like, but this time looking for oem if possible. I saw the 3 prong units for 5bucks each, but looks like you would not have the screw terminal exposed. Which means the plugs would be more permanently married to the wires.. I suppose.

This receiver like many (most) of Allied's line - for a time - was Pioneer OEM. The statement that Allied and Radio Shack were two entirely separate companies isn't quite entirely true. Radio Shack (Tandy) actually bought Allied and operated as "Allied Radio Shack" for about two years, but ran afoul of anti-trust laws. The topic is documented at www.radioshackcatalogs.com I am fortunate (?!?) enough to have the 1971 Allied Radio Shack catalog... which features quite a hodge-podge of equipment!

I think the Pioneer polarized two prong speaker plugs are still available from several sources as new stock.

I have a pair coming to me from a fellow AKer.. this site is great! Still don't know any specs on the 355 yet, nobody seems to know that much about the Allied series. Just wondering if it is 20 wpc or 80 or what? Playing at high volumes, it seems more like a 20wpc. the unit is only about 25lbs, which also tells me the tranny is not as substantial - perhaps.
