Kylemac, just saw pictures you posted, maybe you are right and what I wrote apply only to lc 110 R. No second choke or resistor on yours...

I think, based on your photo, that is the iteration of the Allison speakers made in Kentucky years after Allison Acoustics closed its doors and Bob Allison was brought out of retirement...

Or I could be wrong...

****...ahahahaha...Thanks for the little history lession. Put them yesterday against AR17...AR wiped the floor with 110...Your reply just fit my impression on these.

I'm trying to discern the crossover design. I'd like to rebuild mine.

I think I understand it fairly well, but not quite sure about the little part labelled MCI 1.0. It looks like it feeds both the LF and HF, coming right off the + binding post. Is this a thermal fuse or a resistor?

Just restored a pair...... damn are they nice and flat! leave them on the floor. the tweeter is very (surround soundish) and gives highs
all over. the lower freq. just nicely bounce through the room!!!

So, I roll by the thrift store today. On the shelf, priced $4.50, are a set of vintage Allison Acoustics speakers.
They are the "Allison: 110" model.

Despite the cracked 8-inch woofer surrounds, they came home with me.

I have seen several variations of the "Allison: 110" speaker while researching online. There is the LC-110 model that appears to be a dead ringer for this speaker, as well as the AL-110 -- another dead ringer. The speaker grills on all the models have the same indentation design element.

Meanwhile, the serial number on my model is of the K series, and some folks talking about the speakers made it appear as this distinction was rather important.

Overall dimensions are:
Height: 18 inches
Width: 11.5 inches
Depth: 6.75 inches

So two real questions: What model to I really have, AND is the woofer able to receive a new surround?

The blue thing is a thermal fuse, when driven hard sound will cut out, turn volume down sound will come right back again. They can get weak over time with repeated activation.

I am glad you are enjoying them they are wonderful little speakers.

Just for future reference for someone this is what my LC110 looked liked.

Those grilles have no business looking that good at $4.50. Nice find. Any Natick Allison is a good Allison. I THINK the 110 and the LC110 are the same speaker.

From those pictures, I don't see any reason you can't refoam those woofers, I've done lots of the 8" Allisons.

yes i just bought a pair for $54 but one of the tweeters got damaged in shipment to me do you still have them the 110 model ? are you using them?

I often see tweeters and other components on eBay...

uh, no many of them tweeters on e bay are junk , fake, damaged sorry i have and do look there once the domes are damaged they are nearly impossible to repair

IF YOU LIKE THE 110 TRY SOME AL115 much BETTER AND MY AL130 ? omg AWESOME ! some of best speakers i have ever heard!
