allison AL speakers

A guy I know recently purchased 3 pair of Allison AL speakers. He got a pair of AL110, AL120 and AL130.
The 110 and 120 use the same tweeter as the older 2 way models like the 4,5,6 and 7.

The 130 uses the same mids and tweeters as the model 1 and 2.

The 110 and 130 are in great shape and the 120 are still in original sealed boxes.

I can find lots of info on the older models but little on here about the AL models. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they as good or better than the older ones?

I owned a pair of the AL 110's.Not a bad little speaker.Nice,clean,accurate sound.A little edgy for my tastes,a bit rigid in the high end,but overall a quality bookshelf speaker.

I have a pair of AL-115's. They are one of the best sounding speakers, I've ever heard. I'm not saying that because I own them. I own them because of it. Mine are 13-14 yrs. old now, and look and sound as good, or better, than the day I bought them. Have never had to do anything to them (refoam, etc.). They've been used several hours a day, every day, since I got them.

About two yrs. ago, Allison told me in an email, that they are basically the same speaker as the newer PB 8.2 speaker. Mine cost $400 pr. when I got them. I've heard that the PB 8.2 costs over $1300 pr. They went up a little, over the years................. )

I know a pair of AL120's just sold yesterday on epray, search in completed listings, and see if there was some info in the ad, I don't recall if there was any specs or anything offhand...

I ran across a pair of AL-115's in a pawn shop a couple of years ago for $50. I passed. I'm an idiot, I know.

120 on ebay

I saw those on ebay yesterday. They were sold untested and as-is. I take that as non-working and likley needing hundreds in repairs. It also looked like a tweeter had been replaced.

I listened to the AL 130 running off a G-8000 and the sound was pretty balanced with solid bass.

I'll likely give them a better listen one of these days.

Looks like a pretty old thread but I am listening to Aretha Franklin on Alision 110's and they are awesome. Wanted to do a little research and came across this.

ALLISON ! i have AL130's ( 4 ) 2 need mids and tweeters ) i have 2 pair of AL115, 1pair 110 ( need a tweeter one got damaged in shipping ) 1 pair of mini-monitors ,some ,2, AL105 ,
2 allison center channel and two of the rare dual 8"sealed push/pull subwoofers ! also a model 8 ! and 3 rare NL654 speakers ! ( like AL110 but shorter and deeper ) if you want to discuss them post here
