The ADS are gone :(

I stopped by this sale this morning. Got there at 20 minutes after the sale started and they were sold.

As of 9:20 the Scotts were still available. They were asking $50 for them.

Hope another AKer got the ADS!

Thanks for the update. I heard an ADS pair like that years ago and their dynamic capability was amazing. As loud as you could stand it, they could play!

Not sure what they sold for but I had been in email communication with the person running the sale. I said I would pay $350 (they were asking $400), she said she could live with that price. Wish I had gotten there sooner :tears:

If the Scotts are the S-15 model... they're actually surprisingly good sounding little "monkey coffin" speakers... utterly unimpressive in terms of drivers and design... but they sound good. Worth $50 in good working & cosmetic condition, I'd opine.

If they are, instead, S-11 or S-10 (e.g.), I'd opine that they're somewhat less worth that kind of gelt.

This is the text associated with the photo on the sale site:

vintage Scott model S15 speaker towers (each 12x9.25x23.5'")

The dimensions might help someone determine if they're really S15's.

They were agreeable to an offer of $25 when I emailed the sales people

Great news!!!

Checked my email this afternoon. Turns out the person at the door told me incorrectly that the ADS were sold. There was a guy who was looking at them but after hemming and hawing around said he didn't want them "because I have my dog in the car, how will I get them home?" Who brings their dog to an estate sale?

The sale has closed for the day. I'm going by in the morning to see if all the drivers work. If so, they WILL be mine!

For anyone interested in the Scott's, they are still available.

I picked up some Scott speakers a few weeks ago, they are in excellent condition but do not look very impressive. In this case, looks are deceiving, I think they sound better than both the ADS710 and Dynaco A25's. No ****, really..

Man... I'm already Greg's Home for Wayward Speakers! :D

I need another set like I need a hole in my head. I do have a ST70 that would probably mate very well with them.

Thanks for the heads up... I was gonna pass on them. Now I'm going to at least audition them. I know they're still available too.

I would like to take the grill off and check the drivers. Any tips on doing that? I read a thread that said just pull them off with a butter knife.

If there's an Alpharetta, GA, is there an Omegaretta? My brother's in Decatur, GA. If he were an audio equipment hobbiest and horder, I would have forwarded the info to him.
