Altec 604-8H-III (GPA) & McIntosh DREAM system!

Beautiful System......The Component Cabinets and Speakers are Amazing.

Congrats on your Dream System, Thanks for Sharing.

,Mike.

Aside from a tiny bit of room "ring" this sounds splendid!!

Next step is acoustic treatment of your listening room, cause you've got the gear part down pat. Congratulations, Lioh!

Absolutely beautiful system. I have a kinda similar system with factory Altec 17's with 604-8G's and Markwardt crossovers powered by McIntosh MC40's and a CJ PV10A pre.
I have a little taste of your drool worthy system. Congrats and enjoy!

Amazed by the sound quality and of course everything looks new and mint and beautiful as well. Inspiring. Great work.

It sounds great. Have you ever tried them nearfield, say about 6' away with them toed in with the horns directed at your head? If you do try it, also shim up the front of the speakers about 1/2" to raise their focus toward your ear level. I am curious as to your impression if you try it.

The speakers have already been turned inward since I took those pictures on the first page, so that the 604-8H, Series III will have correct placement while listening. They have 1" built-in risers underneath, and appear ear level while sitting down, so no worries there.

I was just passing along what was suggested by multiple 604 users when I got my 620 cabs loaded with 604-8G almost 10 years ago. I tried it, liked it and have kept them like that. As with all things audio, it's whatever works best for you. You have a beautiful setup, both audibly and visually.
