Altec 605b duplex recone question

Howdy- acquired a group of 605b Altecs- unfortunately several of them had been damaged because someone left them loose in cabinets with detached crossovers and ruined the cones.
Both the the high and low frequency drivers function and show correct ohms.

2 questions-

1-since the voice coils are good- can you just recone without a new voice coil?
2- best source for kits or best service for service?

You can do it. Resident speaker guru @GordonW could definitely do it.You'll have to use aftermarket cones. If you want to part with any of those newly acquired broken items or an orphaned voice coil, I know a guy.............

+1 for Gordon. He does excellent work for a very reasonable price.

Great Plains Audio is the most expensive option. But they would also have a higher resale value. They would only do full recones though.

If they were my drivers I would send them to Gordon.

If you want as is 605's then Gordon, but if you want them re-magnatized and to be better than they ever were then you send them to Great Plains.
