I recently acquired this Altec 711A solid state receiver in "as-is" condition.
Handsome. Brimming with potential! Yes, I know the lukewarm response to the Altec solid sate receivers.
@Greg Nal was kind enough to send some photos of the 711A manual that he had with schematic and parts list. (will post in thread)
I haven't done any testing, plugged it in with headphones--lights up, one channel is out.
From the underside you can see that one resistor is cracked open, and the sylvania glass bulb self-resetting fuse has a bit of char on it.
I am planning on replacing all capacitors and resistors;
there are some NOS sylvania self-resetting fuses available online--is there a better, contemporary, product that will fill the same role in a better manner? 1A per the manual
Can anyone recommend replacement diodes or transistors if anything is notoriously problematic and should be replaced from the outset?
