I just picked up a pair of these with one tweeter not working for the price of free99. Upon further inspection, the tweeter shows resistance and puts out sound when the crossover is bypassed.

They have a high frequency adjustment pot that probably needs a good cleaning or to be bypassed. The crossover is only a 10ohm resistor and 6uF cap that appears to be something other than electrolytic.

They sound surprisingly good for their size. Usable bass as low as 34 hz for something with an 8 inch woofer seems really good.

The woofer runs straight off of the binding posts with no crossover, would it make sense to build a simple crossover for these or just replace the cap and resistor? I looked for upgrades online but didn't see anyone talking about any, other than replacing the tweeter.

Clean the potentiometer with DeOxit if you can get inside and follow with FadeLube.
The woofer is designed to operate using its natural high frequency roll off, so no low pass inductor is necessary.

Hey thanks for these tips! I really want to learn more about crossover design. Could you please explain to me why you would split up the 6uf cap into two caps? Is this a general rule of thumb to help with RF noise or is this something specific to this speaker?

Couldn't find an Audyn 6uFd cap. Hence the parallel of two smaller caps. Net result is a 6.1uFd which is perfectly acceptable.
