A few of you may have seen my posts over in Dollars and Sense about these.
I picked up some PA/Instrument cabinets branded NSC (National Speaker Company) that are loaded with Altec drivers and crossover. They are:
811B horns
808-8A drivers
418-8H Series II woofers
809-8A network crossover w/attenuator
Unfortunately one of the 808's is open. I sent a quick email to GPA and Bill responded suggesting it is probably the diaphragm with a new one of theirs being $90.
The cabinets they are in is small and unless you folks think otherwise, is probably out of the picture. I need to figure out how to get to the front of the woofer behind the grille on them though.
I may or may not hold onto these depending on what I have and what I might be able to do with them. Looking for some feedback from all of you that are in the know here. Are these in line for GPA upgrades? If I need a new diaphragm in the one, I guess I would need to do the other?
I currently have Santiagos that I have found to be great. Previously had Valencias that I did not care for as much.
