My dad picked up a pair of A7's in NY. For $100. Makes me sick. No crossovers 511b horns w/808-8A drivers (one bad phragm). One 421-8H woofer and another that simply says "426" on it. Here is my question (I kinda know the answer): Did Altec make a "426" woofer? Anyone have 421-8H they could spare so we can get things evened up? Thanks for ant insight.

Think i've seen a 426 on the bay at one time, i know there's a 425, but that's a killer 10 inch MI speaker.

Is the 426 small frame? What kind of magnet/structure? Is the cone a "dia-cone"?

My WAG is that it's a slight variation of a 421.................. just a guess tho.

Dad says it is very similar to the 421. Same magnet size and appearance slightly difference basket but described to me as close. Cone and surround look the same as well. I'll see if I can talk him through taking a pic and sending it to me.

Altec 421's are always on Ebay. Try to match appearance and ohms. Great speaker. Get x overs that cross at 500 or 800hz. I added a JBL bullit tweeter to my pair for the highs up to 22,000hz. But had to but a pair of xovers that cross at 5,000hz. 808's drop off at 10,000hz. See what diaphram is in the functioning 808 and try to match. if it's a Symbiotic, that will be difficult to find but sound better than aftermarket aluminums. Symbiotics Long out of production. Aluminum aftermarkets are available anywhere.
