I've had Altecs since the 60's and must like them as they're still around. I replaced the original 846A's with some 846B's only because they have presentable cabinets. I like the sound of the A's much better.

Makes me glad that destiny arranged for me to chance upon a pair of 846As which had traveled across the largest ocean on the planet, in order to eventually wind-up gracing my living room. :yes: :thmbsp: :tresbon: :banana: :music: :D

Words my friend won't do them justice ! When was the last time you seen doped surrounds in car speakers ? It's like bringing your home sound system with you on the road. The clarity are something to behold. They truly are amazing.Back in the day when I had all of them hooked up (Front & Back 6x9's) anyone who heard them just looked at me and asked What in the world do you have in there.They Sound that good, at 75 mph or in a parking lot ! :smoke:

They sounded better than my home stereo at the time. :yikes: That's when I knew I needed to do a serious upgrade in speakers for my home.Back then though I was heavily into vintage cars,muscle cars, etc... :)

So where can I find a pair for the wifes camry? That would sure make driving her car a lot more tolerable. Very neat
 
They come up on that auction site from time to time. The only pairs you want to look for are the SK1 & 2,AL1, or the 6x9 4A's 4C's or the 6x9 4B's. The 4B's are the Best !

Here you are. I still have all of them and they work great.Some of the pairs I have are 30 years old.They came with a Lifetime Warranty when installed by a Altec dealer.Unheard of at the time for automotive speakers.

These are the real deal ! When Altec was bought by Sparkomatic the VOH speakers changed and they came out with the ALS line with Carbon Fiber cones.THEY ARE NOT THE SAME QUALITY !!! :no: as the original line from Anaheim,Ca
