Does anyone have any recommendations for after market tweeters for the Altec Model 3's???
The stock high frequency frame drivers are working fine but the upper frequencies seem a little reserved. The high frequency control knob is set to the middle as standard, I find when I turn that up to improve the upper frequencies it makes the midrange sound harsh. I did try some ribbon tweeters which sounded excellent but they didn't fit in the speaker cabinet properly. Essentially I'm looking to extend the upper frequency range. From my own experience a pair of ribbon tweeters would make excellent upgrades to the old paper cone frame drivers but I'm having trouble finding any that would fit and match the correct specifications. Looking for something in a frequency range from 1500hz ideally going upto 30 or 40khz. Any suggestions on replacements?
