Altec Lansing model 4 series II Questions!!!!

I just bought a pair of Altec Lansing model 4 series II at Goodwill for $20. The speakers are in good shape except the woofers need to be re-foamed. I have 3 Qs:
1. Is it worth to refoam them?
2. How is the sound compared to Polk and JBL speakers in general?
3.Are these speakers well recognized and respected?
Please throw in some thoughts if you want to. I really appreciate it.

I had a model 8 and liked it a lot. The tweeter is a piezo and many do not like it. The model 4 does not really compare to the speakers you mentioned.
You may find it is not well respected but it may fill your needs so who cares. With a 10" bass driver it should do bass well.
