Altec Lansing VOTT?

HighFly

New Member
Hi everyone. Relatively new member. I recently saw a listing for some Altec Lansing speakers i new very little about but enough that I knew I had to have them. I was hoping you all could take a look and help me narrow down what I have. Any thoughts on what I suspect are Altec Lansing Vott of some type would be much appreciated!
These speakers called to me so much i spent money i didn't have, took a day off with my kid, rented a van and drove hundreds of miles for them. To my eyes they look in good shape but I am unsure about the exact models.
This is my first thread hope it's in a format people can see.
Thanks for looking!

Thank you. Glad to know it is the A7 model. I was not sure.

The gentleman i purchased from threw in a carver amp ftm-35 and a tuner/pre amp. I believe the carver is 250 watts per channel? I also have a luxman 1040 and a Scott 477. Any thoughts on what I should pair them with? I love my Scott 477 and am thinking ill pair it with that for now. The Scott is 70 watts which was a lot for Scott back then! Thanks for the input! I'm excited!

Bob Carver is somewhat of a legendary gent, have a listen to the anecdote about him in the below video.
I've never seen a full system of Carver here, only separate units. Perhaps less unique in the States. I'd put them proudly on display as a complete system feeding those VOTT's.
Please never ever sell them as separates, this deserves to be kept together (and worth more as a complete set.)

P.s. next to some info on your amp in the video; The Carver pre-amps I've heard (not this one) are very nice (sounding), well built units.

My neighbor has something similar in his garage. I can hear them when he has the garage door open and I must say they broadcast tunes exceptionally well. Don’t know what amp he is using, but they are loud and I can hear every note crisp and clear. Of course, my home is a good 50 yards from his.

That makes perfect sense. Remember that these speakers are meant to project intelligible sound up to medium distances (commercial medium and large cinema rooms).

Now that's very cool! What type of room are they going into?
So this is one of those circumstances for me where I knew it was something I could not pass up or I would regret it. However I do not currently have the proper space for them. I am dying inside as we speak because I haven't even heard them yet! I scooped them up and pit in storage. I'll be sure to update you all ASAP.
