My question exactly! Whatever happen to these speakers!? Did the project complete? Did the mltl dimensions ever get posted? What were the resultant sound?
Since I have the thread open, I'll try to answer the questions.
Yes, the speaker project is complete. The dimensions were given in the first few pages. 15.5 cu ft. The speakers have approx. the same dimensions as the original M19 cabinet except for height. 30" W x 21" D x 54" H. The resultant sound is akin to the original 416 in M-19 cabinet BUT the bass hump at 100hz or so is gone and the bass digs much deeper. It rolls off slowly to inaudible. The raising of the woofer gets the most out of it in the midrange and the delicacy of the nice 416 shines through.
In the near future I'll be changing crossovers and doing some shelf additions, also removing some of the fiberglass insulation. At that time, I'll do some measurements (bought the measuring gear) and will post back with the numbers.
I'm enjoying these immensely. GM hit it out-of-the-park with his design. I couldn't be happier.
I waded through all 10 pages looking for some FR tests, I am really only interested in the Bottom end FR does the mltl extend to another octave? flat to 20 cycles?
