So, my Altec model 14s are sounding fantastic overall, but there is a final phase I would like to complete on these...it appears I have two different generations of 14s, one with a lighter cabinet finish and one with a darker cabinet finish. All other components are the same for these and the cabinets are very clean overall, but I would like advice on wether or not I should sand both cabinets down and refinish the cabinets with the same stain, or simply darken the lighter cabinet to match the darker existing one? It may not be an exact match, but not sure that’s the best route.
Also the paint on the speakers appears to be dark grey on one and jet black on the other, any advice on painting the cabinets to match as well? This is going to be a bit of a pain in the ass I have a feeling
