Hi Audiokarma community,
Im about to undertake an experimental speaker build and would like to get the groups perspective and advise moving forward.
The plan is to build 2x Altec 816VI cabinets which I read crossover at around 2kHz. For the drivers I currently have a set of altec 414 16ohm 12” woofers paired with 808-8a 8ohm HF drivers and 511 horns. I also have 2x N809a dividing networks in rough shape which I plan to restore and rebuild from scratch. I plan to build the cabinets in a way so I can change out the woofers at a later date if needed.
Im a bit of a novice here and would like to know if the approach below is plausible or not?
See proposed crossover parts list below valid for a crossover point of 800Hz? I’ve seen a similar rebuild here that uses 500hz and uses dual coils for 8ohms. In this case I would require 2 difference sizes coils (which may be a squeeze in the existing N809 shell?)

1x Monacor AT62H 100w Mono Lpad
1x Jantzen 2.3mH Air Core AWG18
1x Jantzen 4.5mH Aircore AWG18
1x 18uF 250vdc Jantzen Crossover Cap
1x 8.2uF 250vdc Claritycap ESA range
Questions
1. Is the correct frequency to base the crossover at 800Hz, 2kHz (as per cabinet design) or is lower more appropriate for the parts I have? I’m kind of guessing here at the moment.
2. Are the proposed parts above appropriate as a starting point or should I try Oil caps or other alternatives perhaps?
Open to suggestions for both parts list and crossover design in general if applicable.
