Altec Valencia speaker stands?

Try some cinder blocks, that will give you 8" of rise, also like AB's idea about slanting them upwards.

the altec model 14 has risers very similar to what avguytx has done with his hpm 100's.
i have further isolated and consequently marginally raised my model 14's with great effect by placing hockey pucks underneath the four corners.

Hey-this is in response to your comment about Altec Valencias not having a lot of bass response-there is something seriously wrong if you're not getting some of the best bass response you've ever heard. The 416 woofer had a published frequency response of 20-1600hz, with a nominal free air resonance of 25hz. They will definitely out out low end unless there is something really wrong. I know, I have a pair driven by Naim kit. The Santiago, with its 411 woofer, was even better, but not quite as efficient. Good luck with your set up. Best, Jon

I also have a pair of Valencias that I would like to raise a few inches. I think the wood frame idea (same width and depth as originals) filled with concrete is a good solution. Keeps the vintage look and couples the box to the floor.

No offense to anyone but those Skylan stands are UGLY...:thumbsdn:
