Hi guys, been 7 years since I joined and began digging in to vintage stuff. Finally found my two favorites and had the budget to get them! What do you all think??

Looks great.

However, you might want to do a little homework if planning to run both pair at the same time (through the same receiver).
 
Generally speaking, you don't want to run 2 pair of speakers (at the same time) unless both pair are rated at 8 ohms or higher. Even then, you'd want to monitor the heat your receiver/amp is giving off.

I run stacked Original Large Advents in one of my systems. My Advents are rated at 8 ohms. Running both pair at the same time presents a 4 ohm load (actually the load can drop a little lower) to my receiver (Nikko NR-815). The Nikko can handle it but I don't play my music very loud anymore (at least not on that system).

I think I remember some EPI speakers being rated at 6 ohms. If memory serves me, running a pair of 8 ohm speakers + a pair of 6 ohm speakers presents aprox a 3.4 ohm load to the amp. That's getting pretty low for most amps. I'd definitely want to keep the volume down with that combo unless I knew my amp was okay with lower ohm loads.

Thanks Ranch! Both sets are 8 ohms. I'll watch the heat. I dont get terribly loud, but I dont want to damage anything .
 
Very cool. 'Liking the bluish dial lights. How many watts does the STA-77 put out?

I just put my STA-225 in the local shop for repairs. It has a rich warm sound also. I bought it new in 1975 as a college graduation present to myself. Pretty darn good tuner. I lived in Galveston and it could pull in FM stations from Houston, 50 miles away. Man, there were some great FM radio stations back then.

18 Watts per channel. There's not many great FM stations where I live, probably not a lot of great ones left period. I just got this one back from being checked out. They cleaned it all up, but, turns out Ihad some bad voice coils in some EPI 120s I had. Nothing wrong with the blue beauty at all!
 
I think some of the lower wattage receivers have wonderful sound. I bought a refurbished Harman Kardon 330B receiver off of the AudioKarma BarterTown not all that long ago that sounds terrific. I believe that it has 19 wpc.

I live in Austin now and we still have a handful of FM stations worth listening to. Actually, the classical station is very good. For pop, we have a station called BobFM that is more than decent. Unfortunately, our college station moved their music shows to a weak transmitter on the edge of town. I live just a few blocks from campus and their signal is now pathetic at my house.

Good to hear about your STA-77 getting a clean bill of health.
 
My main system is down while my tube pre is at my Tech's, so I setup my HK 3300 receiver with my Celestion DL8's.
The 3300 is 20 or 25 watts into 8 ohms and it sounds wonderful, and drives the DL8's to louder than I can take, volumes.
So like ranch says, those older low-wattage receivers can sound great.
I'd love to hear your STA-77.

In my youth I ran my stacked Advents with a Carver Cube amp on each channel and an Advent 300 as a pre/tuner. That system would rock out. When I got married the speakers and amps went to a friend, who is still using them.
