Amazing video of an Israeli F-15 landing with one wing

Israeli's were the first to combat prove the F-15....That is one "sierra Hotel"pilot....:D

I'd say Sierra Hotel! My Brother in law was airframe on F-15 aircraft during his pull in the USAF. He tells some fantastic stories about how tough the old birds really are!

The Russians always claimed US Fighters were'nt durable. Let see a Mig pull that one off! Not to mention US pilots are the best trained in the world. Period.

Not much of an argument here. I remember reading the original report a few years ago and thought it an urban legend until finding it verified elsewhere. Incredible flying ability. Oddly enough, I seem to recall that the pilot ended up in trouble for this as he refused to eject countrary to procedure and against the many requests to do so from the other guy in the cockpit.

Now, the Russians may still be right here. For, the MiGs can run off of Kerosene when jet fuel is unavailable and safely take off and land on such dilapidated runways that they might as well be compressed gravel. Some of the better models also have special intakes on the top of the wings that kick in when the lower intakes are covered for take-offs and landings to prevent the jet engine killer of debris damage -- they don't need the walkdown of the runway to pick up every little screw and pebble like the US fighters do. Different design philosophies with different strengths that should've equaled out in direct confrontation.

FOD walks! Been there, done that.F-15 electronics flys circles around MIGs.Eagles have scored many kills against MIGs and Mirages.

I am very proud to say that I was able to work on one of the most capable aircraft the USAF has ever seen. I was a hydraulic, crew cheif and engine mechanic.

Agreed, They dealt in volume, We dealt in training and technology. The showdowns between allies and mig supplied air forces is so one sided it's laughable. Phantoms vs Migs, Eagles vs Migs, Tomcats Vs Migs-Su's. It's all the same result. Haven't counted Bosnia, were Europe's fighters had a field day also, Along with US Hornets-Fighting Falcons. Western Jets vs Former Eastern Bloc Jets were a mis-match, In our favor.

That brings up the question, were these battles of equal quality craft? It seems all the F vs. MiG aerial battles have been between our TOTL aircraft against stripped down, hand-me down MiGs that are severely out of date and poorly maintained. Even then, most of the opposing force aircraft were destroyed on the ground by cruise missiles, standoff AA/AG missiles and the like rather than an aerial type dogfight where the plane's capabilities really come to bear. I don't believe that it's been since the Korean conflict where the top models from each side have duked it out. At the beginning of that, the battles were far from being laughably one-sided until we scrambled to design and build better planes.

Granted, the US approach of extensive training and cutting edge technology as a means to balance the force equation against the old Soviet battle plan of overwhelming numbers and speed definitely needs to be considered overall.
Still, one does wonder how a battle between the top MiG of an era against a top US/European aircraft would fair one on one.

There have been TOTL engagements in Vietnam, Around 65 or so the supersonic Mig 21 vs F105 Thunderchiefs, In a battle were Loss of 10 "Thuds" heavily loaded with bombs, On the way to Hanoi. Strike 1 for the north. The Airforce was so pissed, 2 days later they "Lured" the Migs back, Using 6 Thuds as Bait. Sure enough, 12 Mig 21's show up, This time to the back and up, 7 missile laden Phantoms were waiting, You can guess the result. The F4 was our best interceptor at the time, The Mig 21 had just arrived also. Theres no question who ruled the skies, In Nam or Korea. A head to head showdown between Russian pilots, And and ours hasn't happened, Yet. I have no doubt at all what the outcome would be.
