Amended list of 150+ wpc receivers!

Within the next week or two I'm going to be digging into a Kenwood KR9600. It's been sitting on a shelf in near my workbench for a few years now and no technician at this record shop I've been working at (as a hobby and because its fun) has even dared to touch it.

needless to say, I'm excited to work on one of these big bois.

The Krell KAV-300R. Produced for a short time in the late 90's and not easy to find. It's basically a Krell KAV-300i integrated with an excellent tuner by Day Sequerra. It puts out 150 WPC into 8 ohms and doubles to 300 into 4 ohms. Put together with the build quality you would expect from Krell. Even the remote is solid metal.

I still have my Krell KAV-300R, though I'm using a tube amp currently. It's a very cool receiver. It also has a "Theater Throughput" option that allows the amp to easily switch acting as a standalone two-channel stereo and being used as extra channels in the theater system (automatically bypassing the internal volume/balance controls in throughput mode). The remote on the KAV-300 is actually a normal plastic remote, which is a bit of a blessing in reality. The Krell HTS AV preamp I used to have had the solid brushed aluminum remote, and while it was the coolest thing in the world to look at, it was pretty heavy in use. I felt like I'd lose a toe and or chip the wood floor if dropped it :). Only half joking about that, it was pretty heavy and difficult to hold. The build quality was indisputably cool though.

I don't think the Sanyo JCX-2900K has ever had the correct specs entered into this thread. The service manual says, at 1% distortion, it does 140x2 into 8 ohms and 150x 2 into 4 ohms. It seems like there should be more of a jump there, but that's what the spec sheet says.

Here is the USA service manual showing 150wpc for the Fisher RSZ1 into 8 ohms.

Nice list, it will help when hunting for "big ones"..., clarification for me, is that Peak or RMS ratings? or is it a mix of both depending on the specs?
To me all I care about is the peak, until the amp clips.

NIKKO NR-1415 175W/CH VS SONY STR_V7 150W/CH

NIKKO nr1415 VS SONY STR V7 music test - YouTube

I love these kinds of side-by-side tests -- would really love to see vintage vs modern -- not enough of those done in my opinion. This video would be a million times better if he had captions showing what the settings are and spent more time switching back and forth on "apple's vs apple's" settings. It's pretty hard to see what the settings are, even on full screen it's difficult to distinguish, for example if a switch label says "on" or "off".
