American Idol Finale--Tuesday

.....did you see the look on Haley's face when it was announced Lauren would go to the finals instead of her?....I wondered if she was going to grab the mic and argue.....

Yeah...if I was Haley I'd be pizzed, too. When she sang that Zep tune I thought "This is it...she has it in the bag". Wrong.

I'd certainly like to see Casey perform when he's out on his own...damn one man band with good musical taste. My wife says he & Haley have a "thing" goin' on, too.

.....many will probably disagree with this, but I thought Haley should have been cut....she was a knockout in figure and form, face, and had gorgeous hair, but her singing left me wanting, in many directions....the overall effect I got from her singing was like I had just listened to and watched Marilyn Monroe singing into a microphone....considering I got to watch her, I really didn't care if she could sing or not, but no way would I be interested in buying an audio recording, know what I mean?....I just don't think she sounds even remotely professional, at least not at this point.....

I was at a tournament yesterday but fully expected to be home in plenty of time, so I didn't even think of setting the recorder. Then, a three-hole playoff, and I didn't get home until 9. At first I was totally bummed, but then...meh.

I'll watch tonight because I assume there'll be clips from last night. Great writeup in the Trib this morning. The addition of 16 year olds plays straight into the Taylor Swift/Justin Beiber fan base, and Scotty and Lauren are definitely adorable kids, but not much there for the music lovers among us.

Wait a minute...today is Tuesday. I swear, I'm losing my mind. Either that or it's the beginning of "Old-Timer's Disease".:yikes:

Without question, the most stunningly, unbelievably boring final in AI history. Halfway through I just left the room and I've been cleaning the rabbit cages.

What a waste of 60 minutes of air time.

.....just got home from Keith's baseball game at Lonoke and started the show recorded on the DVR.....

.....a country lover, huh? :D....I feel sorry for you guys that had to sit through all these commercials.....

.....I think Randy's pretty sharp or he wouldn't be sitting in Simon's chair....I agree with him, Scotty opened great, sold out according to the house, and left Lauren a hard act to follow....Scotty, round one....round two, Lauren....round three, Lauren....we'll see what America says....

.....Lauren's claim of a strained vocal cord seemed legit....did you hear her on that last song crackle a high note, and then immediately get off the high note?....I strained a vocal cord back in college as a voice major, and I guess mine was worse than hers, I was not allowed to speak at all for three weeks....I carried the same written message around campus to all my instructors.....

.....I say America will vote Lauren as the winner....and, it's been awhile since a female won it.....

Believe it or not, I do like country music. I just don't feel either one of them are strong at all. In a few years I'm certain they'll be much better. They're both very likable kids.

I think Lauren gave herself an excellent chance to win the competition with that last song. Over the course of the season, I think that Scotty had a better body of work, but often, the last thing the audience sees is what they remember the best. I still think that Scotty will win, however.

I could definitely hear the trouble in Lauren's voice, but she certainly fought her way through it - if she lost any votes because of her voice quality on one given night, that is very short sighted. If anything, she deserves a couple of attaboys for doing what she needed to do to perform and not come undone. That showed me a great deal of determination for a 16 year old.

I can only imagine the record labels and producers licking their chops at the potential goldmines in these talented young kids. I must say that I have been very entertained by this season's program - it is really not my normal cup of tea. I have never watched a season before - maybe one night's program here or there over the years.

Just for grins, I watched it with my wife last night. A complete yawner, IMHO, and a dead-even match between two formulaic country(ish) singers.

Then again, commercial Nashville music (pop music with fiddles) does nothing for me. However, it is just about the only music genre with broad appeal that still sells lots of CD's to the masses - probably a good thing for Idol. Just not my cuppa.

Both did great but I thought it was a bit slanted towards Lauren with the last song she did directed at her mother that played well into the emotional crowd. This, IMO, may just sway many to vote for her for sentimental reasons.

As for the strained voice, I have a hard time buying it. Lately with AI there always seems to be some drama brought up at the end just like they did with Bowersock last year when she/they claimed she was ready to quit the competition close to the end. You gotta remember, this is Hollywood.

Pretty evenly matched and both with great talent for their age.

I am amazed that there are actually people who watch that show. I guess I just don't get it. With that being said, I read an article in the newspaper about Haley being voted off and checked her out on YouTube and also the two finalists. I don't think the finalists are even in the same league as Haley. Obviously, the people who are voting don't have a clue.

.....Fisherdude, I didn't even make it until halfway through tonight....when the show started with a Lady Gaga song, "I WAS BORN THIS WAY", I left the DVR recording and went to Wal-Mart in fear the roof might cave in on me....after Wal-Mart, I made it a point to go eat cheap Chinese, and got home just in time to catch the end of the show with Scotty winning....I'll say this....evidently, the American public has been placing a lot of votes from the beginning for the country singers, and those people evidently represent a deciding factor of the voters....looking forward to next year, I think.....
