America's Got Talent: Jackie Evancho the next Susan Boyle?

I saw something incredible tonight on America's Got Talent.

Powerful musical singing waif Jackie Evancho could be the next Susan Boyle phenomenon. But without the sordid melodrama.

10 year old Jackie Evancho sang with the musical opera voice of a mature 20 something woman.

She sang O Mio Babbino Caro by Giacomo Puccini.

I saw her and couldn't believe her voice wasn't dubbed.

You could see how controlled her singing was as she rounded her mouth -- and her lips and chin quivered to project her voice.

Anybody else see her and got blown away?

Apparently tonight was a selected talent competition of people who have made their claim to fame posting YouTube videos. And she apparently has a strong Internet following and a debut album out already.

She even has a wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Evancho

Quite an impressive resume.

So it may not be appropriate to characterize her as an overnight sensation since she's actually worked her way up paying her dues through years of hard work. I realize how odd that sounds. lol

it seems pretty unlikely from an acoustical standpoint that she could produce sound like that, with so much depth and richness from such small lungs and a small throat, but there doesn't seem to be any real evidence that it wasn't legit. good for her. kids are great imitators, and there probably isn't a better time to learn the operatic style.

It sure hit home for me all the emphasis one hears about "sing from your diaphragm." I'm sure a lot of wannabe singers are taking note. You wonder how else it can be acoustically possible.

Speaker technologies take note, Bose are you listening? :D

Here's her resume from imdb.com

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3450022/resume

The entry that I found amusing was with all the ticking off of accomplishments and skills -- and then it hits home she's still just a 10 year old girl:
