Amp and tuner or reciever

I am currently looking at the Yamaha A-S701 with a NAD C427 tuner vs. Yamaha R-N800A. My concern is in the quality of the tuner in the reciever. I miss the 70's and would love my old school stuff back. I wish money wasn't a issue but would like to stay under 2K. I could really use unbiased opinions as salesmen want to tell you a tail. Thank you, Dave

Separates are the way to go. Generally speaking you'll get better sound & easier, less costly repairs if needed

$2k will buy you some nice vintage gear, check out FBmarketplace, and Craigslist. I've been very lucky to find great gear locally!
Also check local record stores, some of them sell gear both new/used. My first 2ch seperates system was purchased from my record store for under $800 with pre-amp, amp and tuner.

I like separates never a cuffs and collars, drapes and carpet guy so them not matching not a problem. Going for performance instead something able to have when picking a unit like a tuner verses a receiver. The downside will always be more room will be required and external connection cabling. Even a power center might be needed at times.
