Amp for Infinity Kappa 7.1 Help!!

Hello!
I own four Kappa 7.1.
The original plan was to conect them in an horizontal passive biamplification with two Parasound 2125 v.2, plugged to a Preamp Parasound P5.
Connecting all the four higs and mids frecuencies to a single one, and the lows into the other amp.
Each Parasound 2125 gives 150 watts into 8 ohms and 225 watts into 4 ohms. The kappas impedances are 6 ohms, and then emerged a doubt that if the amps will give or 150 or 225 watts to the kappas.

Please tell me if I'm right doing all this thing.

Any suggestions for any other amp if these are wrong selected?

Theoretically, output power doubles with the halving of impedance, but realistically, most amps don't have power supplies that are sufficient to handle power doubling. I'd say you will get 225 watts (or fairly close), since that's probably the max that the power supplies are capable of supplying. And I don't see anything wrong with powering the speakers this way.

However, the discussion is purely academic. There is barely an audible difference between 150 and 225 watts (to get a 3dB increase in sound level, which is considered "noticeable", you need to double the power). So I wouldn't worry about it.

It's just that i have heard that the more power you feed them, the better they'll sound.

Up to a point. The Kappa x.1 series is actually pretty easy to drive. I think you'll be happy with this setup.

Oh wait, I just realized that this is only a 2 channel amp (Parasound also makes a bunch of multi-channel amps). I think in this case you're better off connecting the speakers conventionally rather than biamping - I think you actually may get less power if you biamp. As far as I can tell, you're actually going to be sending each channel a 3Ω load, which will then have to be split between a pair of speakers. Since we can infer that the amp maxes out at about 225 watts per channel, each speaker will only get 113 watts for low and 113 watts for high.

Or, forcing into biamp, what do you think about the Parasound 2250 (400 watts into 4 ohms per channel), as you are saying, biamping with these beasts will give 200 watts for each low and high frecuencies

If you already own the 2125s, why not just connect one pair to each amp and see how you like it? If you feel something is lacking, let us know what it is and then we can make recommendations. Biamping is not a cure-all; in particular, all passive biamping can do is get you a little more power, and that's assuming you're not planning on doubling up the speakers connected to each channel.

Biamping with the P5 is great. Just connect the highs to the main output and the woofers to the sub output. Even has adjustable xover freqs. I use an amp for woofers and an amp for highs.

I haven't them yet. Thats why i'm searching for help, if i buy them and don't fit good enought the kappas then i'll waste my money. Thanks for the tips, i'm taking note of them

Oh great! Thank you, I didn't know that one. I was thinking in connect an amp to the high pass filter crossover on the P5, and the other in the loop out of the first amp.

You may get slightly better results bi-amping them (or maybe worse), but if it were my money, I'd keep it simple and just use a single 2125. That's plenty for these speakers. They're not difficult to drive, and in my opinion, high power is very much overrated.
