My friend is looking for amplifier recommendations for the Jubilee bass bins. He has been using a 2A3 for the horns, McIntosh for the bass bins and a pair of Behringer EP4000 for the BassMaxx sub horns. You could say he likes dynamic and concert level sound. He now wants to try a pair of solid state monoblocks for the bass bins and use the McIntosh just as a pre. I was thinking maybe Emotiva XPA-1, D-Sonic M3-1500M, Red Dragon M1000, or possibly an Adcom GFA-5802. What do you think would work with this rig?

I am going to try the same thing with my B&K ST260s, each one bridged, to run a pair of Renaissance Audio Phantoms I'm building. As long as the sub driver isn't real low impedance you have way too many options to list. Kinda like asking, what's your favorite amp?:scratch2: Off hand, my best direction would be a minimum of at least 200w.
 
I was thinking something in the 500-1000 for D class and maybe 250-500 for AB class. Plenty of headroom. I know there are lots out there. I was really looking for what brands others may be familiar with that I don't know of or can think of.
 
The Crown Micro-Tech and Macro-Tech amps are fantastic "Bass" amps. Also the QSC MX series amps (like an MX-1500 or MX-3000) are great at grabbing ahold of cones and controlling them for deep and clear bass. These are both Class A/B amps and they are very heavy amps, so be prepared for some lifting. Being pro amps they will have 1/4", XLR or barrier strip line level connections (depends on configuration that the original customer purchases). Wiring configurations are readily available on-line so if you can solder a wee bit, no problem. Both of these are "older" amps and can be purchased at decent prices on the used market. If they are in good shape, they are hard to beat for "Bass" applications. Both were designed to take a beating and keep on running! They do have fans, so there may be some fan noise.
 
I was going to suggest a pair of smaller QSC PL or PLX series amps, and bridge them mono. PLX 1202 are something on the order of 600-700W bridged, or the PLX1602 which I think is 1000-1100W bridged.

While not monoblocks, I'm pretty sure the QSC PL 3.4 I have is a dual mono design, 725wpc @ 8.
