Amp stands

I just finished these maple end grain stands 4'' thick. The feet are resilient mounts, someone gave me 28 of them, I wouldn't buy them never. They act as a spring with movement in all directions. There placed in a hole I routed. Only used 3 in each and seem very sable. I have four isoacoustic pucks in use also. There is a Lot more work involved in creating an end grain slab I soon found out.

Nice job.
Maple end grain....it doesn't get much harder than that. I assume you have a drum sander ?

I didn't mention, its soft maple. No such thing as hard maple in the south I've searched relentlessly.

No drum sander Either, I used hand planes before sanding and they worked really good once I learned to sharpen them correctly. Looking for my next audio build, should've been in this 20 years ago.

Here to applaud hand plane use. Such much better than abrasives. If your only understanding of them is from banged up shop class examples, you don't know what you're missing.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I made another end grain bloc, this for my Dac which won't reach it now, cables to short. Waiting on building a new rack, waiting on my lumber to dry. This is Brazilian cherry
