Amp to replace Yamaha R-2000 receiver

I own an R-2000 and I’m very happy with the way it sounds - I have been happy with it for close to two decades. But other components around it changed and the R-2000 now basically serves just as an amp only.
I wonder if it’s worth for me to look for an amp that has a similar sound signature like the R-2000 to replace it.
I like the unforgiving crystal clear, clean and powerful sound of the R-2000.
I’d stick with Yamaha, but from reading reviews it seems like the newer high-end models are, while outstanding, hugely overpriced. I’m afraid that if I spend over 2 grand for an amp I’ll have expectations that can’t be met, miracles that don’t exist. I can’t justify spending that much right now anyway.

It just needs to power a pair of Q550, a 12 in sub in a large open space, and a bunch of smaller remotes. And it needs to look and sound at least as good as my old R-2000. And I’d love some nice meters (silly, I know).

Are there any particular, somewhat more affordable amps I should consider looking into (new or vintage) that I’d be happy with as a substitute for the R-2000?

Right now two wired towers and a wired sub (plus four wireless remotes).

If helpful:
TT (plus separate phono pre), CD, tape deck, streaming services (Wiim). DAC/transmitter (Wiim), source switch.
All sources go through the switch and then to the Wiim Pro+ first, which allows for basic room correction and syncing. The Pro+ also serves as a DAC and transmits sound to the Wiim Minis for the powered remotes.

Yeah. The MX-2000 CX seems to be a great sounding, powerful amp. And those meters! I’m sure I’d love it. Hard to find though, and if it comes up in decent shape, it’s usually very expansive.
I’d like to keep it under two grand if possible (including potential overhaul and maintenance for a used vintage unit).

I really like the sound of my R-2000. Nothing wrong with it. I just don’t need a receiver anymore and wondered if I could do better with an amp that I could afford with the money I can expect when selling the R-2000 plus maybe a grand or so on top of that.

If I have to fork out more (which, who knows, I may end up doing) other models/brands may come into play, new and old.
Perhaps a Mac, an Naim, a higher end Sansui or a Revox amp in good shape. Of the latter two I had receivers in the past I was happy with. Just not sure how amps like these compare in sound quality and sound signature to the R-2000, and what else there is I should consider.
 
As far as Yamaha amp options, I have some
more specific questions. Maybe some of you can shed some light or have experience with some of them?

What’s the difference between the A, A-S and CA series?
A100a; A-S 1200; A7 (I guess the latter is a pre-main); AU671…

The B- have some interesting options, not so much in the looks department though. Similar with the M- series - they at least have meters (but LED).
Did any of these come with silver faces?

Would I be happy with a DSP? Should I consider that route? Any obstacles? Anything I’d need to change in my setup?

What’s the difference between professional/commercial and home stereo amps? Would the P and PC professional/commercial series be suited for home use?
PC2002M; P2000…
