Amp + TT for B&W 805

I’m putting together a new system for the living room of my new place. The system will be primarily used for listening to vinyl records, though I’ll also look to tie into my TV and include a Bluetooth input for digital music. The room is not huge - a rectangle that’s roughly 30’ x 20’ with the speakers to be centered in the middle of one of the long walls.

I’m building around a pair of B&W Matrix 805 speakers. Looking for advice on how to think about what Amp and TT might be best to complete the system.

Am interested in vintage as well as new equipment. In particular, have been looking at the AT LP5 and Riga Planar 1 TTs.

Don’t want to spend more than $1500 for the rest of the system.

What do people think? What should I be thinking about? Will I be better with solid state or tube? Anything really shine with these speakers?

Appreciate any advice!

Solid state requires less maintenance. Any of the top of the line amps or receivers from the 70's will perform well with these speakers and all have very good phono stages. I am partial to Kenwood, Luxman and Sony gear myself. Find something that is restored and add a decent table and you will be good for many years to come for your $1500.

Welcome to AK, although I'm not familiar with the 805's, the reviews suggest an amp of 100wpc or more. The best shopping place is Bartertown, many good units there. Subscribe, its the best $25.00 you'll spend. Also post your location, that will help us direct you.
