Amplifier base

I finally have a place to setup my system. At present the Pass Labs X-250.5 and XP-20 are sitting on the carpet. (Actually sliders.) I am looking for information on bases and would appreciate discussion on the attributes of different bases\materials and recommendations.

I'd like to see at least an inch. And that is on top of VTI racking. Previously, I used tennis balls cut in half as feet.

Yep, worked out very well for my 4 floor residing audio amplifying space heaters.

Over ten yrs. ago when I bought these guys, our area didn`t rate a Ikea yet, so we (my housekeeper/caregiver & myself) found them at a Target store & she then coated them with Linseed oil & let that to be allowed to soak in for a few days, then installed.

Sure made sliding those heavy as hell beasts into place much easier, and provided good ventilation, as their feet would have certainly sunk in to the carpet over time !

I originally considered a measured in full length 1 & 1/2 ~ 2" thick slab of dark marble for all four amps to live on, but the cost and wait time discouraged me. so the quick, easy & cheap individual cutting boards won out !

They allow any of the individual amps to be easily slid out for whatever reason that might be required, though so far there has been no reason in over 10 yrs since installation.

I ain't putting my crap on the floor or close to it as I want the units, especially the preamp at a level I can use while standing or sitting and not crawling on the floor. But for amps that don't get much handling and are getting too heavy for putting them on furniture, a nice chunk of wood with feet is a good way to go. Don't want to load up the area between the speakers with gear, that is where the speakers are supposed to develop a nice image and a tall stack of gear kinda keeps the sound from the speakers separate. More so with dipole radiators.
