An Idea for a Change of Place for the New York City Area Meet.

May I recommend finding a restaurant or pizza place, which has the room, and is known well by some NY fan with like mind.
Sunday is usually a day with much easier, even free parking, for those of us driving in.
Publicizing this event may be the key to a fun and "successful" event. If we can call the meet something like a "Records, CDs n HiFi" swap meet, the public could make this a very worthwhile event. A very small admission fee, like a few bucks, could have hundreds of folks lined up, outside, for the opening time.
Of course, Advertising would be the key to attract fellow Audio fans. These days, free ads can be accomplished online. Old fashioned "press releases" read on interested radio stations, online sites and such, could really make this a happening !
Way back in 1989, I promoted such a show, at the Ham Heaven restaurant, close to the Racoon Lodge, two blocks north of the Trade Center. Over 200 folks paid $2. for admission, after waiting on line for the opening. That money went to the hosting restaurant.
Unfortunately, 1989 advertising costs in all the Audio mags, the record collector Goldmine mag, Sunday NY Times "Arts and Leisure" section forced me to take a financial loss on that endeavor.
But, it sure was a successful looking show. 40 exhibitor-vendors were expected, but only 25 showed. Still, sales and scores made it a fun swap meet.
Lastly, perhaps the NY Hot Club would be interested in a co-op event with the serious NY audio folks ? Wouldn't that be a blast ?
I have a few phono preamps which can happily switch in proper, pre-RIAA, phono EQ playback curves, which I could bring, as well as turntables with 78 RPM, which the Hot Club specializes in spinning.
This could make it even easier to arrange a co-op event, since setup table space would be needed....
Hopefully, some NY AKer knows some friendly restaurant or pub which would be amicable to host an event. Also hopeful, our date and time does not disrupt their biz, only helps them, as well.

Might I suggest you all attend the Kutztown, PA, Antique Radio & Vintage Electronics shows, in May and September, each year ?
These shows are now as much an audio show as an antique radio show. They have become the largest Vintage Electronics shows in the USA.
The last show actually had the most HiFi gear available, compared to any show, ever !
Numerous exhibitor-vendors have their audio systems playing music, continuously. There was some audio related gear for sale at nearly every table, among 300 tables !
This upcoming show, September 18th & 19th, will be the 54th show at the same location !
Highly recommended !
If you buddy up with some friend(s) to get a booth, ($55. w/1 table; $10. each additional table, before August 18th), you will not be disappointed. Folks attend from all over the USA !
These major events occur under pavilions, rain or shine, adjacent to the Renningers Antique & Farmers' Market, 740 Noble St., in Kutztown, PA.

It is about placement of venue. I mentioned above that the church I attended growing up has two halls, both likely available to rent. It is in Westfield NJ.
A real plus is that there is good cell signal there for those with streaming rigs to demonstrate. Possibly WiFi too.
