An MCD7008 Laser Replacement?

A big shout out to MX117.MC7150, because he’s familiar with CD laser issues.

Per the topic title, I have a Mac MCD7008 from 1992 and I wanna keep her!
But … I’ve been getting the dreaded ERR message of Doom.

A tech said,
“No chance. No chance at all.”

True?

SO … I still have a reset to attempt before trying a laser block replacement.
I also have YET to replace that really pesky belt that defies installation …
y’all experienced know to which I refer.

Today I tried again and found a French audiophile site that has two possible
replacement blocks, both made by Sony: the KSS-150A and the KSS-210A.
BOTH are available. Haven’t sourced via Audio Classics as yet.

Just buy a Nakamichi CDP-2 or other unit with the same changer mechanism and swap the whole thing out. The Mc carries a cost premium that the others with the same mechanism don't.
