And Now for Something a Little Different - Fisher Futura Console

Quadaptor!

I have a Fisher Futura console in the Modern cabinet that has been waiting in the wings for several years now. One day I'd like to clean up the cabinet, renew the electronics and put it back in service. As far as I can tell its either a 1964 Futura IV F-58 or a 1965 Futura V F-59. I need to dig into it to determine which it is. I also have a Fisher 800B that has been rebuilt and is my "daily driver." Until the day comes when I can turn my attention to the console I'd like to learn more about what I have as there isn't a ton of info on this unit floating around on the webbernet. For those of you who have experience in the world of Fisher consoles, are there any similarities in the amps or other components between the 800B and either the F-58 or F-59? Many thanks and any comments on this console or any of the other Fisher consoles would be greatly appreciated.

I have it stored under some boxes in a back room. I need to do some cleaning in there so dragging it out this weekend for pictures gives me some motivation for doing the work. I'll try to take some detail shots for those who are interested. If there are any details you are interested in let me know so I can get those shots posted. Thanks for your interest.

Amplifier guts in the F58 for '64 and F-59 for '65 were essentially identical. Hybrid units with a tube pre and a germanium output section with a transformer between. Essentially the same as a 49A in the Custom Electra only with 4 more transistors in the output section. Pretty good unit if you luck out and have 8 working transistors. Go back to around 2009 or so in search. I did a few C.E. VIII rehabs and I believe there may be one or two threads on the Futura (F-59). The Tuner/preamp unit is different between the 49T and the 59T. On the '64's the head units are similar but not identical. The only thing I don't care for is both the C.E. and the Futura in '65 lacked some bass.
