Another example of U-Turn's Amazing Customer Service

Long-time lurker here and first-time poster. I've learned a lot from this community, so thanks!

I'm compelled to make my first post by an amazing incidence of customer service. My 18-year-old son bought his first turntable last fall. A Orbit Basic from U-Turn. He and his older brother have been getting into vinyl more and more this past year. So much so that they got me to dust off the old Technics and pull out my boxes of vinyl again.

When I mistakenly bought an AT-95E for my P-Type arm, son #2 decided to "commandeer" it for his U-Turn. Didn't ask Dad to help and ended up pulling the wires off of two pins. Too delicate a job for his Dad's old eyes so he contacted U-Turn. They asked if he had his box which he didn't so they sent him a new box and said to ship the table and cartridge together. Shipped it out Tuesday and got it back Saturday, cartridge installed and set up! Total cost $15 - $5 for the box and $10 for round-trip shipping! That's it!

This is absolutely amazing. To treat an 18-year-old kid that well, speaks volumes about the quality of the people at U-Turn. They definitely helped a budding audiophile stay psyched about spinning vinyl. The music he plays is another story but he did listen to an entire side of A Day at the Races with me the other day, so there's hope!

That is going the extra mile kind of service. Way to go U-Turn! These guys are the real deal. I see that they have updated their tonearm to a gimbal type with no increase in price.

That's how they do at U-Turn. I wish that they would freshen their lineup of turntables similar to how others have added a higher-level line (Fluance) but I've never seen such consistently good direct-from-factory customer service from any other company.

Yes, I have pretty much made up my mind that my next table will be a Fluance RT85 (if they ever become available!), but this has me thinking that it may be worth spending a few extra bucks to get an Orbit Special or Custom with the Ortofon Blue.

My Orbit is the Walnut Special and can attest that U-Turn did a beautiful job with the plinth. It's been a nice machine for me and I trust that they'll deal with any issues that may crop up over the years. However, I also own the Fluance RT81 (and RT80 on a fluke) and believe that the new reference Fluance machines offer tremendous value and performance. If I were looking right now, I would struggle not to get the RT85, which has optical speed control, external platter drive, acrylic platter, and if I remember correctly, is backed up by a two-year warranty from Fluance.

My heart would have me buying the U-Turn, while my performance and value senses would have me going for the Fluance machines. All FWIW.

Am waiting to see what the Teac TN 4d looks like. Direct drive supposedly will have SAEC arm
