Hello all from the South of Spain. After lurking here for a while I finally decided I liked what I saw and have joined the forum.
I am just getting back into audio after a 20+ year break. I left Canada at the end of the 80´s with a backpack and spent the intervening time working various jobs around Europe. Six years ago I bought my first home here in Spain and, finally, after much work have a place to setup a decent system.
I´ve decided to go all tube so have put a toe in the water and bought a basic push-pull EL84 integrated amp, and a tube phono amp for my LINN Basik record player. Built a pair of transmission line speakers last winter as a project to keep myself busy, and because I couldn´t find anything that sounded decent for the money I had available.
Now I´ just having fun tweaking the system, and realising that I have opened a pandora´s box which could seriously damage my bank account.
I am also really lucky to have a friend down the road from me who builds some really nice record players and he has offered me the loan of one - http://www.recordplayer.com . Trouble is, I´m sure I´ll really like it, and my bank manager wouldn´t be happy with the price tag.
Well, as I stand on the edge of the abyss looking down, I can honestly say I have no regrets. The enjoyment is more tha worth it.
