Another speaker I.D. request.

jcamero

Who are you people anyway?
No markings anywhere, no grills either. I pulled the woofer, and tweeter, both are VIFA. Heavy for their size. I do not think they are very efficient, I need a lot of volume to wake them up. Sound decent heavily toed in. Not bad for 6 bucks.

Yeah Snell used Vifas along with others but their stuff is usually identified on the speaker jack panel. Anything on the crossover? Pull that panel and check inside.

Vifa makes quality driver's and the cabinets look to be fairly well made too; not too shabby for $6.

Would be a great set to experiment with crossovers on, maybe change the slope or frequency of the crossover.......

Heybrook HB-1 would have been sealed.
Snell K or J would have had the drivers flush mounted.
Tangent would have used KEF drivers.

Could be DIY. Someone repurposed a cabinet. The rear terminals look like something from Radio Shack or Madisound.

Not sure about repurposed cabinets, or DIY unless the cabinet maker was highly skilled. The openings for the tweeters were routed out to allow for the terminals, and looking at the miters, their is a goldish trim most likely laminated into the finish layers. I did some searching on Madisound/Parts Express' sites for DIY speakers, but nothing came up.

Some DIY guys are pretty skilled.

The tweeters might have tab cut for the terminals, but the drivers don't look to be flush mount. For Snell, especially tweeters, were almost always flush mount.

Search for the woofer and tweeter part numbers and see if any forum discussions pop those up as replacements for certain brands.

Here's the crossover. Not the best image. The woofer opening routing could of been done by hand, it appears it was started, and stopped, not a fluid cut. Since no markings other than the drivers, I'll just live with DIY.IMGP5241.JPG

Hard to tell if it's DIY or used repurposed cabinets or not. I've never seen a manufacturer use those crimp connectors. Usually always a spade lug soldered to the wire without the crimp. I think someone's done something to them anyway. Crossover doesn't look DIY.
