Perusing the Bargain Bins
Hi folks. Are there any websites that sell anti-skate weights? I have a Marantz 6100 that I can not get up-and-running because I don't have the little weight and wire. I keep looking for one on eBay, but haven't seen one yet. And I don't want to have to buy another whole table to get one. Where do I look for one? Thanks much. David.

If the weight attaches with a small cord then I imagine someone could tell you the original weight and you could adapt one from an available part from another manufacturer. I know needledoctor has replacement ProJect weights for something like $10.
 
I have the 6110. There are very slight differences in the two models and a good chance that the weight is the same. It's a small pendulum weight with what looks like very light fishing line. A loop on the shaft end of the line is made with a small metal crimp. I just weighed it and the weight and line assembly come in at 1.02g.

Rather than wait for one to come along, why not just fashion one out of a small found item weighing 1g +/-10% and use some 1 pound fishing line. Anti skate is no where as important as TF so as long as it's roughly the same you should be ok.

I just had a thought and went to weigh the threaded, silver, pointy, end part of a ball point pen. It looks similar to the original on my 6110. Came in at 1.85g but a little filing on the fat end would get it down to 1g.
 
Jury Rigged Counter Force Weight

A Friend of mine had a similar problem-he fixed it with some fishing tackle. A swivel with a short length of monofilament and some sinker weights. It looked cheesy but it worked.
 
I know it's sometimes hard to believe on this forum, but some of us are just not "handy". I literally cannot drive a nail properly. So, pretty much ANY do-it-yourself solution, no matter how seemingly simple, is a challenge for me. That's why I went ahead and ordered the Pro-ject weight from NeedleDoctor. You'd think it would be easy to find a part like this online, but no. Hope it works. But, thanks all for the good suggestions. Cheers for now. David.
 
I have a 6110 that I had refurbished was also missing the AS weight. I had a parts 6100 that had it so I moved the weight to the 6110. I found that the 6100 line was a little longer & had to be shortened to use on the 6110.
