antipodean audio

David,

What is the gizmo to the right of the (300B?) tube amp in post 133, and to the right of the Denon in post 134? Is that a disguise for your TPA3116, or ??

I'm curious.

- Fred

The gizmo sure is a disguise. My summer/movie amp:

Very nice system. Did you post a picture of the Audio Nirvana 15" drivers in Shindo-spec'd cabs? Are you still using them and can you tell me more about these and how they integrate with your other speakers/subs?

I am still using them and intend to use them for a long while unless I run into a screaming bargain of horns or move to a bigger place.

They integrate with the 2 subs very well. Obviously they have decent bass being 15" large in big cabs, but to achieve an optimum bass you really need to implement a proper Distributed Bass system. The adoption of the AntiMode Cinema has really brought the best out of them.

I've been meaning to update the photos since the placement is slightly different not to mention the peripheral gear and the acoustic panels, but I haven't been able to secure a camera to justify the exercise.

Anyway, here are some old pics:

Using the old Kodak Brownie camera as an amp case is very creative.

Thanks! The first time I saw the cameras at a flea market I knew I found the right enclosures for my TPA project :D

No I didn't. They were made by someone else. I bought them just because they were pretty and Shindo-spec'd.
But I ended up adding some internal bracing as shown above.
On a low volume the cab resonance was quite lovely but on a high volume it turned into something a bit noisy & lossy. I like large orchestral...!

They are just the super cast frame - ferrites.

Thanks man.

The TPA is often employed when I watch TV or movies through the Audio Nirvanas.

Had used to run the Celestions at work with it too until I changed it to the Sonneteer recently.
