Antique tube radio find at garage sale.....potentially much more!

image.jpeg I just finished my another 175 amp this morning and i am burning it in. I did not do the big output trannies i have for it yet tho. Playing some old Motown thru my Klipsch at 1/3 volume it is filling my home with phenomenal sound! Oh yea, if i can bring myself to turn it off i have to make a pretty base....

Getting back to the original post matierial, i went back this morning and the woman let me tour her house. She did have some old floor radios. The 4 foot tall ones, probably Zenith. $50 each i think. I passed as i do not need gear that takes up that much real estate. She also had an interesting Silvertone phonograph console on legs. It was stereo, but when i looked at the amp, it was a small 2x6v6 integrated. The tone controls were ugly, one output transformer was top chassis mounted, one side mounted. Price was cheap, but it was an ugly little amp! Lol....so i did not end up getting any other gear

You may want to go back. Certain Zenith consoles from the mid/late thirties are worth in the hundreds, or more, and have a wide following with the old radio crowd. If nothing else, either to flip or as trade bait. But like this hobby, it depends on what it is.

This does not mean all old consoles though. Although $50 is probably a fair price for most, Zeniths have a special following, as do certain other brands.

Being an AK, perhaps its one of those early/late or undocumented revision things. My AK 55c has 2 schematics, neither of which quite match my particular unit. Mine seems to be a "middle" production with some of the early and some of the late.

Well the Zenith, or whichever they brand the floor models were, are gone. The woman who had them said she put them out later in the day and they sold quickly! I guess i better start doing research on the older tube stuff i usually dont consider...

Bought it as it is and restored. Havent used it in a couple years so will need a variac just to be safe, one of my favorite pieces..:)
